Cigarette Litter

So, after going around campus and taking pictures of cigarette litter, I have come to this conclusion: there is a LOT of litter.  Like, way more than I actually thought was there.  Here's just a few pictures of some of it...

And that's not all of it, either.  Unfortunately, I found a bunch more locations with similar scenes.  Here, there was no ashtray or anything for people to put their cigarettes in, but in other places, there might be an ashtray no more than five feet away.  In one instance, an ashtray had been knocked over, with litter strewn all around it.  It's disgusting, and it harms our environment.  We need to start paying attention to these things and doing something about it.

First Post! :D

So, I'm still fairly new to this blogging thing, please bear with me.
If you're reading this, then you probably already know what an Eco Rep is, but in case you are new to the party, here's a brief summary:
Eco Reps are students from each of the residence halls on the UNT campus.  We are trying to spread awareness across the campus about environmentally-conscious issues such as utilities usage (water and electricity), curbing the littering of smokers, and other such issues.  We aren't especially large - as I said there's only one of us per residence hall - but we're hoping to make a huge difference here on campus.
That said, things are starting to shape up to be a busy, but excellent, week.  We have multiple meetings this week over stuff that we'll be doing throughout the semester.  With luck, we'll get everything done that we need to get done in preparing for those events, and this semester will be the fullest it can!
